Description

This work originally depicted an orangutan. I painted it feeling as if the orangutan were pleading “help me,” grieving the disappearance of the forest it lives in. Real forest leaves were affixed to the surface — placed with the image of a last fallen leaf fluttering down. Before the forest disappears.

But then I strongly felt: this is not finished. So I began painting over it, and the orangutan disappeared beneath the new layers. When I tried to remove the last leaf, it would not come off — so a partly worn leaf remains in the work. And from there, a new painting was born.
